This ended up being one of the weirder things I've been paid to draw. The good folk of Rock Paper Shotgun needed a bespoke takeover image in which to clad their website. The brief stated it had to involve a take on site mascot, Horace The Endless Bear, but I was otherwise encouraged to "go full Marsh" on the thing.
A dangerous request for all involved.

Let us stare into our USB-powered crystal balls and consider the future of PC gaming. Hmm... yes... I'm getting a reading. Something about Facebook... buying... Valve? And then just silence - save for the sound of ash falling on a dead world. That can't be right. Luckily, PC Gamer US have a more optimistic vision of tomorrow's personal computer entertainment, and they asked me to illustrate it. How nice!

PC Gamer asked me if I'd throw together a bunch of recognisable indie game characters for the cover of their, brace yourself, bookazine - a special edition of the magazine which compiles every indie-gaming-related feature, review and preview from the recent past (including some of my own). I drew the characters in isolation and then the mag's art team assembled them on the cover.
And here's what it looks like in print.
